LIMWEEK: A  Stimulant and Catalyst in the development of the maritime industry in Africa. 



Chairman, Zoe Maritime Resources Ltd., Mrs. Tosan Edodo-Emore has described the Lagos International Maritime Week (LIMWEEK) as a stimulant and catalyst in the development of the maritime industry in Africa and a solution provider to maritime challenges facing Nigeria and Africa in general.


Edodo-Emore said that LIMWEEK provides an invaluable platform for stakeholders, regulators and policy makers to gather together annually, brainstorm and provide solutions .


“It is a private sector initiative that has received the support of the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the regular participation of the Nigerian Navy, the Federal Ministry of Transportation and all its parastatals.


“It is an international event which provides an opportunity for Nigeria to cement relationship with trading partners, of which last year, Sune Krogstrp, the Ambassador of Denmark to Nigeria, gave the goodwill message .


“This year, Mrs Emmanuelle Blatmann, the Ambassador of France to Nigeria, will give the goodwill message,” she said.


She said that the the theme of the LIMWEEK 2022 is: “New Technologies for Greener Shipping in Africa.


Edodo-Emore said added that ”eminent personalities in the maritime industry drawn locally and internationally would feature in the roundtables on various subjects such as maritime transportation, logistics and port development.


Others are maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea, marine environment, maritime training, education, law& arbitration, women in maritime and others.


She said that the 2022 LIMWEEK would come on Sept. 13 to Sept. 15 at the Lagos Oriental Hotel.


Speakers for the 2022 LIMWEEK6Z have been drawn locally and internationally and they include; the Danish Defence Attaché to Nigeria/ Maritime Military Advisor to West Africa, Captain (Navy) Soren Skovbjerg Nielsen; Executive Secretary of Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Hon. Emmanuel-Lyambee Jime; Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh; Executive Director, Security, Environment and Maritime Research, Danish Shipping, Maria Skipper Schwenn.


Other speakers are; Executive Secretary of the Gulf of Guinea Commission, Ambassador (Mrs) Florentina Adenike Ukonga; Chief Judge, Federal High Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice JT.Tsoho; President, Nigerian Maritime Law Association (NMLA), Mrs. Funke Agbor (SAN); President, Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN), Mr. Bodurin Adewale; Chairman, SIFAX Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi; among others.


Participants expected at the conference include; Maritime stakeholders, government agencies, Banks, Lawyers, Doctors, Insurance companies, Shipowners, Logistics companies, Freight forwarders, Oil and Gas
