NAGAFF PLAYS MAJOR ROLE IN ACCOMMODATING MAJAN  - Ugochukwu, PRESIDENT


The Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria, MAJAN, at the commissioning of its Secretariat describes its emergence as the aftermath of the failed merger of various maritime journalists' group as brokered by the then Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuke Rotimi Amaechi.


The President of  MAJAN,  Comrade Ray UGOCHUKWU, made this known in his  address of welcome that the MAJAN was formed under the mango tree of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, NAGAFF.


Ugochukwu said that the founder of NAGAFF, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam a pillar of support provided a well furnished convenient facilities for MAJAN members to use freely in the course of their duties. He appreciated the founder and Spiritual Leader of NNPP for his immense supports by making their stay a memorable one at NAGAFF secretariat.


He noted that other agencies like NIMASA, Nigeria Shippers' Council, NSC, Nigeria Customs Services, NSC, Standards Organization of Nigeria, SON, and Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents have also rendered their supports MAJAN.


The Association of National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents, NCMDLCA, Comet Shipping, Wharf Landing Fee Agency and Mr. Okey Ibeke, a journalist and publisher. Dr. Emeka Martins Enebeli, President, Nigeria Institute of Shipping.


Other stakeholders who have also rendered supports are the National President, ANLCA, Hon. Iju Tony Nwabunike, the Vice President, Dr. Kayode Farinto, and the National Secretary, Alhaji Babatunde Mukaila.


The President of MAJAN emphasized that a lot has been done in giving the secretariat a standard and that more work  still need to be done in order to bring it to a very conducive journalistic operations.


Comrade Ugochukwu added that MAJAN doors are wide opened to any well meaning journalist who desires to join or rejoin MAJAN.


The founder of NAGAFF, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam while addressing the audience implored MAJAN members to work together and show love to each other.


Dr. Aniebonam said that "as a journalist you have duty to report the ports.  In the course of reporting the ports actual facts with material evidence should you be invited that why did you write this.

Journalist must come together, know what to do and enter the society which is the ports."


"Things are not working well report the ports because you are going to add value to ports operations."


Dr. Aniebonam reiterated that CRFFN is not an agency of the government.


"I am the founder of NAGAFF. Look at where my office. At the rear, I have gone. So why are all these people disturbing my sisters organization."


"At what point do we understand that we should give way to this young freight forwarders for leadership."
