Pls get TESTED immediately, it could save your life. Many have had covid and treated it as fever, malaria etc and luckily they've been fine....( note that symptoms are different and viral loads vary). However, a problem with that is they have probably gone on to infect others, since they were not monitored or guided. The average span for a covid infection if not severe is 2 weeks (14 days ) when you should totally isolate so as not to infect others.

Make sure to use vitamins - VitC (1000ml) , vitD and Zinc daily and please WEAR A MASK. Please maintain physical distancing, wear a mask properly and wash your hands regularly.

I'll also like to thank the amazing lead Dr who treated me Dr Folarin Opawoye; and finally , my husband whose Love and Faith nursed us back to health.

To God Alone be all the Glory.

Thank you all.''

SANWO-OLU VISITS ACCIDENT SCENE, PROMISES RENOVATION OF AFFECTED STRUCTURES

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-olu on Saturday visited the site of the helicopter crash at Salvation Road in Opebi area of the State 24 hours after the incident to assess the damage of the crash.

Speaking to journalists after looking round the crash site and meeting with the owners of the affected buildings, the Governor promised that Lagos State Government will carry out integrity tests on the buildings and do necessary repairs and assist the affected families.

It would be recalled that a Bell 206 Helicopter, belonging to Quorum Aviation, was traveling in from Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital with two crew members and a passenger before it crashed in between two residential buildings in the Opebi area of Lagos at mid-day on Friday.

Sanwo-Olu also sympathised with the families of the three people that lost their loved ones during the crash and prayed that God will comfort the families of the deceased.

He said: “I am here to do a real on the spot assessment and I have seen things for myself. We thank God that as painful as the incident might be, the damage was not beyond what we have witnessed. We are pained by the death of the three people on board but we thank God because it could have been worse than that. The affected buildings are residential homes that have citizens living there. As at the exact time the helicopter crash happened, a lot of people were not in the premises and even the elderly people that were around and in their rooms. But as God would have it, nothing in term of fatality happened to people on the ground. So, we need to thank God. If not, fatality may have been a lot more than what we are talking about.

“As you can see the people affected are senior citizens; they are people in their 80s and 70s that I have come to condole with and also thank God for them. We have seen the level of destruction and damages. Tests will be conducted to understand the integrity of the buildings and once that is ascertained today or tomorrow, we will start work with the federal agencies. We will start the reconstruction and renovation of the places affected by the crash; the rooms, walls, tents and ensure that we quickly bring respite to the senior citizens that have been affected.

“From Monday, we will start rebuilding the damaged structure and also assist in any areas the owners of the buildings need our assistance. We will also assist the senior citizens wherever they need help. We know that the incident has had some impact on them. We will give them whatever support we can give them to reduce their psychological, physical and emotion hardship, which may have been caused by the incident. We would be doing that for them as a government. The whole essence of governance is to ensure that once your citizens are affected like this, government need to rise up.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu also commended all the federal and state agencies for their quick response by moving to the site of the crash shortly after the helicopter crash. “I want commend all our frontline workers, all the emergency staff that turned up yesterday with citizens in the neigbourhood that turned out in large number to help,” he said.

Speaking during the governor’s visit, residents of the helicopter crash site area thanked Governor Sanwo-olu for visiting the crash site, as they thank God that when the helicopter crash landed, there was no fuel in it.

They prayed for Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu, saying his tenure in government will be successful, noting this is the first time something will happen and a sitting Governor in Lagos will make a quick response.

They also thanked several agencies of Lagos State for making quick response to the crash site and clearing it.

In her address, one of owners of the affected buildings, a 77-year old Deaconess Oluwayemisi Oluwole said the repairs promised by the governor should be done quickly for her to be able to move back into her residence.

She said: “I thank God for what happened because there was nobody in the apartment affected by the crash. We thank God that the helicopter didn’t land on top of the house. We thank God that there was no fuel in the helicopter when it landed.

“I hope somebody will come and assess the degree of the damage and that should be done quickly because I have not entered the house since yesterday because I have been banned from entering the house.

“Since yesterday a lot of people came here without observing any COVID-19 protocols. In my house now, I can count 20 face masks on the floor. So, I want to appeal to government to come and help us to sanitise the place. I am very happy that you (Governor Sanwo-Olu) have blood that you know something happened to your subjects and you decided to visit them. Your reign will be sweet in Jesus name.”

Also speaking, Mr. Sesan Kuyoro also thanked several agencies of Lagos State for making quick response to the crash site and clearing it.

He said their response showed the commitment of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration to welfare of the citizens of the State.

“I am not being bankrolled by anyone" Fani Kayode answers probing question

Embattled former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has opened up on who is bankrolling his numerous tours in different PDP states across the nation.

Fani-Kayode, who assaulted a journalist for asking him who bankrolled his tour, finally answered the question, saying that nobody is bankrolling his tour.

He described his visits across the country as a fact finding assessment meant to evolve strategies that could help solve the country’s challenges.

Fani-Kayode, again apologized over the media outburst in Calabar, Cross River State, saying it is an action he regretted.

Speaking at a media chat to mark the end of his visit to Akwa Ibom State, Fani-Kayode said he was very impressed with the strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel in Akwa Ibom State.

Fani-Kayode, who was emphatic on his source of funding for the tour said, “I am not being bankrolled by anyone. If I am being funded for this fact finding mission, I won’t be able to have a mind of my own.”

The former presidential spokesperson said the visit was a personal sacrifice which he had no regret undertaking.

“Akwa Ibom has really impressed me. I want to say this, you are blessed to have a Governor in mould of Mr Udom Emmanuel.”

“Governor Udom Emmanuel has attracted massive investments into Akwa Ibom State, you can only achieve that if you have an enabling environment. Gov Emmanuel is a focused and very disciplined professional,” he said.

Stressing that the visit was his first ever, he maintained that, “I have never been to Akwa Ibom before but what I have witnessed since I came in has been mind-blowing. The state is not only very beautiful but truly blessed.”

The PDP chieftain whose recent outburst against a journalist in Cross River State sparked uproar in the media circle expressed regrets for the action, saying it was not worthy coming from a leader.

“I very much regret the Cross-River State incident, I let my anger becloud my better judgement. I deeply regret my actions on that day. My response was disproportionate and unacceptable, that is why I had to apologize to my family, friends and the Media world.

“No leader should ever be found wanting on such. I have reached out to the person in question and I am still reaching out to him again in love personally to say I deeply regret my actions towards him on that very day.

'' I disappointed myself, my family and friends'' Femi Fani Kayode apologizes to Daily Trust reporter

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation, has tendered an unreserved apology to the Daily Trust reporter he lashed at during a press conference in Calabar, Cross River state on August 20.

The reporter, Eyo Charles, had inquired from him who was funding all his trips to the Southern states he is currently touring. The former Minister felt insulted by the question and tongue-lashed the reporter.

We’ll no longer tolerate harassment of Nigerians in Ghana- FG

We?ll no longer tolerate harassment of Nigerians in Ghana- FG

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says the Federal government will no longer tolerate the harassment of Nigerians in Ghana.

Lai Mohammed made this remark while reacting to recent attacks meted on Nigerians residing in Ghana. Recall that two weeks ago, some Nigerian traders in Ghana raised alarm over the closure of their shops after they were asked to pay N1 million. In June this year, a part of the building owned by the Nigerian High Commission in Accra, was demolished by Ghanaian authorities.

NUJ ‘blacklists’ Cross River govt, as journalists shun Fani-Kayode - PREMIUM TIMES

Controversial Nigerian politician and former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode arrived Uyo, Akwa Ibom, on Wednesday, for the continuation of his private tour of projects embarked upon by state governments in the South-South.

But he may be having it difficult talking to the press about his tour of Akwa Ibom, as journalists in the state have taken a decision to boycott any activity that Mr Fani-Kayode is involved in as retaliation for his recent verbal attack against a Daily Trust reporter, Eyo Charles, in Calabar, Cross River state.

Mr Fani-Kayode, during the press briefing which was held in a private hotel and moderated by Governor Ben Ayade’s spokesperson, Christian Ita, told Mr Charles he was “stupid” for asking him who was “bankrolling” his tour.

“In line with the disposition of the national leadership of our great Union, the State Council has directed that no journalist should attend a media parley with Femi Fani-Kayode or any of his activity at any location in Akwa Ibom State,” the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, said in a statement, Friday morning.

“The NUJ is not part of the visit.”

The statement was signed by the NUJ Chairman, Amos Etuk, and the Secretary, Dominic Akpan.

Mr Etuk told PREMIUM TIMES that journalists in the state did not need Mr Fani-Kayode to tell them about Governor Udom Emmanuel’s performance. “We already know the governor’s performance and we are satisfied with it,” he said.

Abasifreke Effiong, the managing editor of the Dune newspaper, Uyo, said journalists in Nigeria must stand up for one another against people who are out to insult them and denigrate the profession.

“Whatever action NUJ in Akwa Ibom State takes in relation to FFK’s visit to the state will go a long way in defining our self-worth as professionals and (will) shape the way other members of the public will deal with us going forward,” Mr Effiong added.

Meanwhile, the NUJ in Cross River State has “blacklisted” the Cross River state government over the Fani-Kayode incident.

The union, which also “blacklisted” Mr Fani-Kayode, took the decision after an emergency congress on Thursday.

A communique issued after the union congress, said the press briefing where Mr Fani-Kayode attacked the Daily Trust reporter was an “illegal one” by the Cross River government.

The communique was signed by the NUJ Chairman in Cross River state, Victor Ndu; the State Secretary of NUJ, Oka Ibor; and the Chairman of the Communique Drafting Committee, Richard Ndome.

The union said it was sending a letter to media organisations, asking them to pull their reporters out of the Government House, Calabar, and also for them to stop covering the activities of the state government until “the issue is resolved”.

“Congress restates its total support for and stand with the Daily Trust correspondent, Eyo Charles on the question that resulted to the unprovoked outburst (from Fani-Kayode).

“Congress also directs the State Council to issue warning letters to members who attended the press conference and did not do anything to protect their colleague after which each of them is to individually write an apology letter through the State Council to the National Leadership of the Union with a firm promise never to violate the rules and regulations guiding the journalism practice.

“Congress hereby resolve that henceforth all press briefings by any individual(s), public or private organisations must be held at the NUJ Press Centre, unless as may be directed by the State Council,” the communique said.

“Until a clinical trial is done in a scientific manner, no herbal medicine manufacturer can claim cure or effectiveness to treat COVID-19 associated symptoms.

“I believe that Nigeria’s herbal medicines may be able to cure COVID-19.

“They have a lot of potential and it is time to translate research of herbs into products of proven safety and efficacy, for the benefit of our people."

BREAKING: Ousted Malian President Regains Freedom a week after his arrest

Mali's new military rulers have released ousted president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, who had been detained since the country's coup on August 18.

The junta known as the National Committee for the Salvation of the People (CNSP), said on Facebook on Thursday, August 27, it was "informing public and international opinion that former president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has been released and is currently in his residence".

Mali junta releases ousted president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita a week after his arrest

"President IBK is free in his movements, he's at home," a spokesman for the junta, Djibrila Maiga, told AFP, referring to Keita by his initials, as many Malians do.

''He is still being guarded by army officers since his release late Wednesday,'' said a person who spoke on condition of anonymity because he’s not authorized to comment publicly on the matter.

Keita, 75, dissolved his government and resigned under pressure from soldiers hours after the staged coup. He was elected to office in 2013, just over a year after his predecessor, Amadou Toumani Toure, was himself ousted in a coup.

His release comes a day after the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) suspended the membership of Mali, increasing international pressure on the military junta for seizing power in Mali.

Police chasing suspected 'Yahoo boy' kills woman, injures her baby in Benin

A mother has died in an accident that occurred while police officers were allegedly chasing a "Yahoo boy" in Benin.

Mrs Grace Obajay, 29, was in an Uber with her one-year five months old baby, when a car rammed into them, flinging the baby out of the car, knocking the mother out, and also causing injuries to the Uber driver.

According to Vanguard, the car that rammed into them was driven by a suspected Yahoo boy being chased by police.

The auto crash occurred along Airport Road, Benin City, Edo State, last Friday, August 21.

The mum, who worked as a Secretary with Floret Systems and was only two months from celebrating her second year wedding anniversary, had ordered the Uber after she closed work for the day when the accident occured.

She was left bleeding from the mouth and nose and was unconscious following the accident. Her son, who had been flung out of the window due to the impact of the crash, was badly injured and cried out. The Uber driver, named Precious John, was also badly injured and immediately called his elder brother for help.

Speaking with Vanguard , elder brother of the Uber driver, Dickson John said, “I got a call from my brother at about 11 am. All he could mutter was ‘ come quickly, I’m dying, I can’t breathe, my chest, accident, airport road…, and the call ended. I tried reaching back to him but could not get him.

“I was accompanied to the scene by one of my comrades, Godwin Esosa, where I saw my brother’s car stained with blood and fuel was dripping from its engine but there was no sight of him.

“We gathered from eyewitnesses that a team of policemen in a carton colour Audi car was chasing a suspected yahoo boy in a Toyota Camry 2012 model. In his bid to escape from the police, he ran into my brother’s car which was just entering airport road from Saint Paul. The policemen never made an attempt to save them. Rather, they abandoned them to fate.

“A Reverend father rushed the baby to Saint Philomena hospital for immediate attention, while my brother and mother of the baby were rushed to Faith Mediplex hospital for immediate medical attention. The yahoo suspect was rushed to the police clinic for treatment.

"At Faith Mediplex, the female passenger later identified as Mrs Grace Frank Obajay was referred to UBTH on oxygen. She was there until yesterday (Tuesday, August 25) when she died.

Also contacted, the widower, Frank Obajay, lamented that the incident had shattered him beyond expression. He disclosed that their baby had a fracture on his left leg, adding that surgery had been done on the leg.

He said that the Police were aware of the incident right from the first day, adding that some policemen from Federal Operation had paid him a condolence visit.

The identities of the policemen who were chasing the yahoo suspect were yet to be disclosed by the Edo State Police Command.

Nigerians To Pay More For Electricity, President approves import waiver for meters

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a waiver of the import levy on meters, so that those that do not have meters can be supplied as early as possible at reasonable costs.

He also directed the commencement of a nationwide mass-metering programme as part efforts to put an end to estimated and arbitrary billing for electricity.

Prof. James Momoh, Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, said the president’s directive was in response to yearnings of Nigerians.

Momoh also urged the public and all stakeholders in the power sector to disregard any reports of an arbitrary tariff increase affecting Nigerians.

He said that measures had been put in place to protect the poor and vulnerable in cases of tariff reviews.

The chairman explained that tariff reviews would only follow service-based principles.

“Under these service-based principles Distribution Companies (DISCOs) will only be able to review tariff rates for customers when they consult with customers, commit to increasing the number of hours of supply per day and quality of service.

“In all cases poor and vulnerable Nigerians will not experience any increase; in line with these expectations, DISCOs are directed to engage with their customers on a Service Based Tariff structure.

“Under the Service Based Tariff Structure, DISCOs can only review tariffs for customers under the following conditions:

“Customers are consulted and communicated a guaranteed level of electricity service by the DISCOs based on hours of supply

“No estimated billing through the strict enforcement of the capping regulation; this means that unmetered customers will not experience any cost increase beyond what is chargeable to metered customers in the same area,” he said.

He said that under the aforementioned conditions, there would be no change in tariff for the most vulnerable as tariffs for those consuming 50KW or less remained frozen.

According to Momoh, customers receiving less than 12 hours of supply will also not experience any change in tariffs.
