Comptroller Oshoba Promises to increase revenue, Deepens Enforcement, Security as He assumes leadership of Apapa Command

The new Area Controller of the Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Comptroller Oluwadamilare Oshoba has pledged to increase the revenue of the Command, enhance collaboration as well as deepen enforcement and security, as he took over from Assistant Comptroller General, ACG, Babatunde Olomu , Phd.
Comptroller Oshoba made this statement while addressing Maritime Stakeholders and journalists in Apapa, Lagos as he assumes mantle of leadership from ACG Olomu, following his promotion and meritorious stewardship.
He stated that he would consistently improve the Command’s revenue by building on the foundation left by ACG Olomu ,through transparent, accountable , effective and efficient collection .
He said in deepening enforcement and security , he will ensure that intelligence remains at the heart of the Command’s operations , promising to close gaps , detects concealment and intercepts prohibited goods before they harm the people and the economy.
He said in enhancing stakeholders relations , he will make the port community to be a partner in progress , promising to continue to strengthen trust with importers , exporters , clearing agents , shipping companies and sister agencies in the belief that trade facilitation and compliance are two sides of the same coin.
The new CAC, Apapa Area command commended the outgoing ACG, Olomu , describing his tenure as historic , adding that under his stewardship, the Apapa Command became a benchmark for excellence in revenue collection , enforcement and trade facilitation. He extended his profound gratitude to the Comptroller General, Wale Adeniyi for appointing him to his new position promising to justify the confidence reposed in him.
ACG Olomu in his address noted that during his watch that the Apapa command raked in its first ₦2 trillion revenue collection, a feat which was unprecedented by the command, adding that in recognition of this, the Command and himself got numerous awards including the CGC Special Award for Excellence in Revenue Collection, Trade Facilitation, and Overall Best Area Controller.
He stated that he also achieved a single-day revenue collection of over ₦17.9 billion in June 19, 2024, set another benchmark with N18.2 billion in daily revenue in October 2024 ,made another daily revenue collection of ₦18.9 billion on March 14 2025 while on August, 2025, the Command collected N214.9 billion using the newly introduced B’Odogwu, the Unified Customs Management System, despite initial technical challenges.
The ACG said that as at yesterday , September 8, 2025 he has led the Command to collect N1,834,789,499,850.40 for the year 2025, adding that he was optimistic that his successor will build on these achievements to surpass the Command’s 2025 revenue target of N3 trillion since the Command has attained 60% of its annual collection.
On trade facilitation and modernisation, he said the command has been effectively positioned as a central hub for implementing trade facilitation reforms championed by the Comptroller-General of Customs.
He added that enforcement and smuggling, of the command in 15 months made 75 seizures of various items broken down to 62 Units of 40ft containers and 13 Units of 20ft containers ,adding that the seizures comprise fake, expired and substandard medicaments.
