NIMASA TRAINS MARITIME JOURNALISTS

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA as part of the agency's commitment to building capacity in the maritime industry, has trained  some journalists covering the maritime beats on overview of the maritime industry.

The workshop training  was centred on  the theme: Regulating the Maritime Industry’- NIMASA Perspective took place at Kitack Lim Regional Maritime Safety and Security Centre of Excellence, KLRMSSCE Kirikiri, Apapa, Lagos, where the facilitators  displayed an in-depth knowledge of maritime industry. 

The workshop, which was categorized into three part.   Paper 1- NIMASA’s role in Nigeria’s participation in International Shipping Trade; facilitated by  Mr. Anthony Ogadi, Retired Director, Shipping Development, NIMASA, Paper 2- Understanding the International Maritime Regulatory Framework was facilitated by Mr. Peter Agbaminoja, Deputy Director/SA to the Executive Director Operations, NIMASA and Paper 3- NIMASA’s Enforcement Processes at a Glance, was also facilitated by Mr. Anthony Ogadi, Retired Director, Shipping Development, NIMASA. 

The Director General Dr.  Mobereola ably represented by the Director of Admin and Human Resources, Isichie Osamgbi commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his progressive initiatives, for the creation of Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and also urged Journalists to put Nigeria’s interest first in their reportage of the industry.

He said “There is no great nation without Maritime industry, the creation of the Marine and Blue Economy by the President is apt and is a laudable initiative. "Honestly our country has a brighter future”. NIMASA D.G stated.
