MWUN: CRFFN AVOIDS STRIKE PAYS 5 MONTHS WORKER'S ARREARS

Following the threat announced by Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, MWUN, to embark on strike if the management of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarders, CRFFN, refuses to settle the Nine (9) months Arrears of its employees who are bonafide members of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, MWUN, the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarders, CRFFN has complied with the directive of the MWUN by paying five months' outstanding salaries Arrears to its staff, out of a total of seven months arrears owed to the staff.
MWUN commends the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Hon. Adegboyega Oyetola MON for helping to proffer solution to the issue of the CRFFN’s staff salary arrears.
According to the press statement issued by the President-General MWUN, Comrade Adeyanju Adewale fnli stated that the President General expresses its heartfelt appreciation to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy for his timely intervention, demonstrating unwavering commitment to workers' welfare in the maritime sector, his dedication and humane leadership has made a significant difference.
He also thanked the Acting Registrar of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria for cooperating with Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria and seeing to the payment of five months’ salary arrears, the Union urges the CRFFN management to settle the remaining two months' outstanding salaries as soon as possible.
MWUN also reminds the Honourable Minister that having paid only five months' out of the seven months arrears owed to the workers, the CRFFN management now has two months in outstanding staff salaries to settle. The Union hereby further appeals for the support of the Honourable Minister and demands that the CRFFN completes the task post-haste, by immediately settling the remaining two months arrears.
