CIoTA Holds Human Capacity Development Training

The President and Chairman of Council of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIoTA) Dr. Bashir Yusuf Jamoh invites stakeholders to the Institute's Capacity Building Workshop scheduled to hold virtually on the 20th September, 2022.


According to a statement issued by the Institute's National Publicity Secretary and Chairperson Media and Publicity Committee Mrs Chizoba Anyika, the capacity building workshop is part of the Institute's training strategies aimed at upgrading the technical knowledge and expertise of members and stakeholders in the transport and logistics Sector.


Anyika said the objective of the workshop is to upgrade members and stakeholders while  diversifying the Transport Industry.


According to her, the workshop will be conducted by experts and facilitators who will employ interactive approaches in knowledge transmission. Key speakers have been carefully selected to discuss standards, regulations measures and innovations in the areas of strategic and operational planning in Logistics and Transport while sharing  experiences and making recommendations for best practices. The virtual training has been segmented into three sessions with the first to be anchored by the Director, Centre for Multimodal Transport, University of Prof. Iyiola Oni, who will speak on Professionalism and Transport:: Issues and Interventions. The second speaker will be Dr. Obed Ndikon, Head of Department Maritime Studies, Federal University of Technology Owerri who will handle Strategic Planning Principles and Operational logistics standpoints in Transport Management while Dr. Adeyemi Ajao, Department of Automobile  (Tech ) Federal College of Education, Akoka will handle the third session on  Strategic and operational planning in Logistics: need for innovative HD vehicles maintenance in a harsh economy.


Anyika stated  that about a hundred participants will have the opportunity to interact with each other and share experiences and common challenges proffering solutions required to professionalize the sector through the technical sessions which will allow in-depth discussions on the recommendations  for policy implementation.  


She said that the Institute is committed to educating and training of the human resources available for understanding and commitment which is required to achieve the goal of sustainable transport and logistics Sector.


The financial resources needed to pay for the development and 

operation of the capacities and enabling systems, and

the commitment of the  system to the goal of sustainability and the continuity needed to achieve that goal will be discussed.

 

Anyika emphasized that the Capacity Building Training Workshop will reinforce the capacity of CIoTA members, transport and logistics stakeholders and other participants' technical and policy levels while sensitizing them on a broad range of global best practices to undertake for the continuous development of the transport and logistics Sector.
