The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC, has received the 2026 Pillar of Integrity in Public Service Award from Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited in recognition of its exemplary commitment to ethics, transparency and accountability in public service.

The award was presented to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation, Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday, who was represented by the Head of Communication and Public Affairs, Ms. Hawwau Gambo, at the 2026 Verbatim Awards held in Abuja.

The event was organised by Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited in partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.

The NDIC earned the prestigious recognition following its emergence as the second overall performer in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard, EICS, conducted by the ICPC.

The EICS is an integrity-assessment framework designed to promote ethical standards, accountability and anti-corruption practices across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government.

The scorecard evaluates public institutions across four key areas: Management Culture and Structure; Financial Management System; Administrative Systems; and Anti-Corruption Initiatives.

The Chairman of the ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, represented by the Director, Systems Study and Review Department, SSRD, Mr. Olusegun Adigun, delivered a keynote address at the ceremony titled, “The Power of Integrity in National Development: Strengthening Public Institutions, Restoring Trust and Driving Prosperity.”

Receiving the award on behalf of the NDIC, Ms. Gambo commended Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited for recognising the Corporation’s performance based on the ICPC’s independently validated integrity scorecard.

She reaffirmed the NDIC’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of transparency, accountability and ethical governance in the discharge of its statutory mandates, including deposit guarantee, bank supervision in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, failure resolution and bank liquidation.

According to her, the recognition reflects the Corporation’s sustained efforts to uphold public trust and strengthen stakeholder confidence in the discharge of its responsibilities.

The award, she added, would further encourage the Corporation to deepen its commitment to professionalism, excellence, ethical conduct and accountability.

As the NDIC continues to protect depositors, promote confidence in the banking system and contribute to financial system stability, the recognition serves as both an affirmation of its institutional achievements and an incentive to sustain high standards of integrity and public service.
