MWUN SUSPENDS SERVICE WITHDRAWAL AGAINST THE ACTIVITIES OF LAGOS STATE
SPECIAL TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT AND ENFORCEMENT TEAM IN APAPA

Maritime Worker's Union of Nigeria, MWUN, has suspended its service withdrawal against the activities of Lagos State Committee on Removal of Abandoned Vehicles and Special Traffic Management Committee and Enforcement Team in Apapa which was announced on 24th of February 2024.

This was disclosed through the press release made available to the pressmen.
The release read thus:
"We refer to our Press Release titled "NOTICE OF SERVICE WITHDRAWAL AGAINST THE ACTIVITIES OF LAGOS STATE COMMITTEE ON REMOVAL OF ABANDONED VEHICLES AND SPECIAL TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE AND ENFORCEMENT TEAM IN APAPA" dated 24 February 2025 wherein we decried the exploitative activities of Lagos State Committee on Removal of Abandoned Vehicles, and Special Traffic Management Committee and Enforcement Team in Apapa to wit: the incessant harassment. bullying, and imposition of unregulated outrageous penalty charges on the haulage truckers in the Apapa,mile two Tincan Island Ports access roads and environs.

"We note and appreciate the timely response of the Lagos State Government for quickly sending out meeting invites to us in respect of this burning issue; we also appreciate the Ministry of Marine & Blue Economy, Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigeria Shippers Council, Nigeria Customs Service and other authorities who have joined hands with us to immediately commence dialogue with the Lagos State Government with a view to procuring lasting solution to our plight.

"Pursuant to the above, we hereby issue this NOTICE OF SUSPENSION OF THE "THREE (3) DAYS ULTIMATUM AND NOTICE OF SERVICE WITHDRAWAL AGAINST THE ACTIVITES OF LAGOS
STATE COMMITTEE ON REMOVAL OF ABANDONED VEHICLES AND SPECIAL TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE AND ENFORCEMENT TEAM IN APAPA".

"We also hereby inform our members nationwide, the authorities, and the general public THAT THE WITHDRAWAL OF SERVICE EARLIER CALLED BY US IS HEREBY SUSPENDED PENDING THE OUTCOME OF THE DISCUSSIONS BETWEEN US AND THE LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT. 

"We urge our members to remain calm, Law abiding, and continue with their daily business activities in the interim.
